Declaration of cooperation between the South Korean data protection authority (PIPC) and the French data protection authority (CNIL)
The PIPC and the CNIL jointly signed a declaration of cooperation on October 26th, 2022 in Istanbul. This agreement opens a new chapter of cooperation, allowing us to strengthen our understanding of new technologies and help face together the challenges presented by the protection of personal data in all areas of Korean and French citizens’ lives.
Today, on the sidelines of the Global Privacy Assembly, Dr. Haksoo KO, Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC – South Korea) and Ms Marie-Laure DENIS, Chairperson of the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL - France), have signed a declaration of cooperation that will allow both authorities:
- to carry out joint research related to new technologies and data protection issues,
- to share their best practices and experiences including in the course of their investigations,
- to organize joint training workshops,
- and to exchange agents between the two authorities.
This partnership will be an opportunity to build a strong institutional and human link between the PIPC and the CNIL through common projects, thus allowing both authorities to strengthen their understanding of new technologies and to help face together the challenges presented by the protection of personal data in all areas of Korean and French citizens’ life.
It is expected that this agreement will create a lot of synergies in many areas. We will remain committed to promoting cooperation by sharing information and best practices including in the course of our investigations. We also hope this agreement will pave the way for further cooperation and innovation when it comes to addressing privacy issues involving new technologies by sharing expertise and resources.
This agreement opens a new chapter of constructive and productive cooperation between the PIPC and the CNIL. We are looking forward to working together on common research projects, to exchanging good practices or to sharing experiences.
